What to expect
Imagine driving through the Hex River Mountains. Behind you lie the responsibilities and routines of everyday life, ahead a team is waiting to take care of your day to day needs leaving you free to focus on what’s most important – you!
Each retreat is completely unique and distinctive. We spend time before the retreat getting to know you – your situation, needs and hopes. From this point we design an experience that meets yours and the wider group needs with just the right blend of activities, practical tools and processes to enable deep change. We ensure:
- a safe space for you to explore thoughts, feelings and the roots of yourself
- access to deep facilitation and coaching skills, as well as our years of experience in the field of personal development and behavioural change
- facilitation style that is in-tune with the group and able to flex and change in response to emerging needs
- a varied retreat design including a range of techniques, activities and tools and a blend of large group discussions, small group sessions and optional one to ones
- each retreat reflects the seasons they take place in and uses the natural surroundings as an integral part of the experience
- opportunity for collaborative discussions with other women to gain new insights, fresh ideas, and possible solutions you might never have thought of on your own
- space for you to do whatever it is you most need…
Here are some of the things used in previous sessions to give you a feeling for the kinds of things you might experience: reflective journaling, creative activities, storytelling and use of symbols, questions to unlock large group discussions, breath-work, dawn walks, inspiring video clips, small group coaching sessions, quiet space for reflection, using environment creatively as part of the sessions.
Setting
Penhill Manor with its abundance of fresh air, tranquillity and mountain views will be the setting for our seasonal retreats. It’s nestled at the foot of the Langeberg mountains in a secluded and gorgeous part of the country. Find a bench to enjoy the beautiful gardens or head out to explore the mountains. Soak up Karoo night skies and enjoy a good nights rest.
There will be time between sessions to enjoy the numerous range of activities on offer: mountain bikes, pools and dam to swim in, jacuzzis, tennis court, mountain trails and gentle strolls in the vineyards.
“When the physical environment affirms our importance,
we think more clearly and boldly”

Accommodation
Enjoy the privacy and comfort of your own luxurious bedroom in one of the beautifully appointed cottages at Penhill Manor. The accommodation is decorated with class and charm, with thoughtful touches throughout. With inviting couches to curl up on, wood-burning stoves in winter and roll-top baths to relax in, your comfort is guaranteed.
We are delighted to be partnering with Klaas & Bev Havenga, their team at Penhill Manor and the Perfect Hideaways team to offer these soul-changing retreats. Our year of searching led us to partners that share our commitment to care and excitement at creating distinctive and memorable experiences.
Food
We have partnered with The Field Kitchen who will be joining us as chefs in residence for the retreat. They are passionate about healthy delicious food with dash of decadence and seek out only the best ingredients. Darryl and his team can cater for any special dietary needs or personal requests you may have. He is also happy to email you any of the recipes of meals or snacks you enjoyed during your stay.
Tailoring the retreat experience
To help us to shape the retreat to the needs of the group, we ask each person to complete a registration form before attending. The questions on this form help us to better understand you and your distinctive needs. We follow this up with a pre-retreat phone call to chat about what you would like to take away from the experience and any questions you may have.
Post Retreat Support
On leaving the retreat we can provide 1 to 1 coaching sessions to help you to integrate your learning and changes into your everyday life. In addition, you will also be able to access a community of women to share and talk with as you continue on your journey of self development and change.
